Chromatic dispersion compensation by cascaded FBG with duobinary modulation scheme

Abstract In this paper, we propose a dispersion compensation model to minimize the chromatic enhance system performance. The proposed is based on applying duobinary modulation scheme 4-stages of cascaded identical apodized uniform fiber Bragg grating. Different apodization functions are tested determine one that provides best connected in three different connection schemes: pre, post and symmetrical, get connection. To evaluate performance system, comparative study conducted using non-return zero (NRZ) modified (MDB) schemes. For evaluation, 10 Gbps WDM link simulated at distance 100 km under set predefined operating parameters. Optisystem 17.0 used for simulation evaluation. Both quality factor (Q-factor) bit error rate (BER) as indices. All cases NRZ do not meet minimum operational requirements terms Q-factor BER. Only case MDB scheme, symmetrical with tanh meets 6.39 BER 8.44 × –11 . achieves better results compared other maximum values 8.964 1.3 –19 pre-compensation scheme. As related work, ~ 99% improvement.
